Severn Internet Scotland has invested considerable amounts of time and
money in ascertaining the best methods to achieve good search engine rankings.
We are justifiably proud of our results with most clients appearing on
the first or second pages of most major engines.
Search Engine Placement is more of an art than a science. It is a constantly
changing environment. If you are unaware of the latest algorithms used by
the engines it is possible to get banned from ever being listed. We constantly
monitor changes at the major engines and can re-optimise your pages to maintain
good rankings.
It is important to understand the distinctions between search engines and
search directories. The most well known directory is Yahoo. Directories
are different to search engines because your site is reviewed by an actual
human being, as opposed to a spider or robot on the search engines. The
directories are also moving towards charging for listings.
It would not be sensible for us to explain the exact techniques we utilise,
but we would caution you to avoid anyone who says they will simply add your
keywords and use the automated submitting tools available on the internet;
using these automated tools can result in your site being black listed.
We include an initial search engine submission process within the overall
quote for new website designs. We submit your site to each engine and directory
individually. In addition, we offer a search engine re-submission service
to maintain rankings. This involves monitoring your sites placement and
adjusting content to maintain positions as and when necessary. This service
is based on results - you only pay if we achieve and maintain the appropriate
rankings. The fee for this service is dependent on the size of your site
and the number of words and/or phrases that you wish to be listed under.
If you are happy with your site design but unhappy with your listings we
can probably help. On occasion very minor changes can produce significant
improvements to your rankings. Other times we will have to suggest quite
radical changes to your site if you wish to improve rankings - mechanised
search engines do not like "frames" based sites for instance,
although certain engines such as Google can now navigate through frames.
We would be happy to discuss the options available to you. We can either
provide you with a report suggesting changes you could make yourself or
we can implement changes and modifications on your behalf.
There is no point in having a fabulous site if no one can find you so you
should pay particular attention to this topic even if you are not a Severn
Internet customer
